About The Position

The Floral Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. The role assists the department manager in meeting department sales and profit goals and monitors established quality assurance standards. The position involves assisting customers with product questions and recommendations, preparing and packaging merchandise, maintaining product quality and freshness, and supporting department inventory and safety procedures. The Floral Clerk also provides support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults, and must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

Ability to handle stressful situations.
Effective communication skills.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Current food handlers permit once employed.

Comparable retail experience.
A second language, in speaking, reading, and/or writing.

Responsibilities

Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
Gain and maintain knowledge of department products, answer questions, and make product suggestions.
Assist with the preparation of produce platters and trays.
Inform customers of produce specials.
Recommend items to customers to help them find the products they want and need.
Prepare, package, label, and inventory merchandise adequately.
Review and inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action when needed.
Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
Display a positive attitude.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
Ensure proper temperatures are maintained in cases and coolers and that temperature logs are maintained.
Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Report safety risks or issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud, to store management.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
