SR Floor Supervisor
About The Position
Universal Logistics is a provider of transportation and logistics solutions. Logistics Insight Corporation (LINC), a subsidiary of Universal Logistics Holdings, Inc., provides supply chain services and customized logistics solutions. This Floor Supervisor position is based in the Detroit, Michigan area, supporting General Motors operations in a high-volume warehouse focused on pick and pack, sequencing, inventory management, and material flow. The Floor Supervisor leads daily warehouse operations and hourly employees while ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and customer expectations are consistently met. The role provides hands-on operational direction, supports employee development, monitors performance, addresses operational issues, and works with internal and customer teams to meet operational goals.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of leadership experience in warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, supply chain, or distribution operations is preferred.
- Previous experience supervising hourly employees in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, material flow, and productivity standards.
- Strong communication, leadership, and employee development skills.
- Ability to coach employees, solve problems, and drive accountability.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting automotive or high-volume manufacturing operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems.
- Bachelor's degree; preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily warehouse operations, including pick and pack, sequencing, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material flow activities.
- Lead, coach, and develop hourly employees while driving accountability and performance.
- Monitor productivity, quality, inventory accuracy, and safety performance across the operation.
- Ensure materials and customer orders are processed accurately and delivered on time.
- Provide daily direction and support to warehouse associates while maintaining a positive work environment.
- Support employee training, onboarding, and performance management initiatives.
- Investigate operational issues and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Maintain compliance with customer requirements, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Monitor labor utilization and support workforce planning activities.
- Complete operational reports and communicate performance updates to leadership.
- Partner with maintenance, quality, materials, and customer teams to support operational goals.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, safety, and customer service.
- Maintain a strong floor presence and actively support day-to-day operational challenges.
