About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring product is promptly removed from all floor areas, keeping the floor and drains clear of condemned product according to USDA, OSHA, and company requirements. The Floor Person participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and working to achieve synergy within the organization. They are familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems and understand their role in supporting these systems, including communicating concerns and improvement ideas. This role performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives and requires the ability to work efficiently in a plant environment.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of a processing facility.
• Std waterproof gloves, sleeves, hearing protection.
• Occasional stair and ladder climbing, pushing/pulling, frequent twisting of the neck and waist, kneeling, simple grasping, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Constant walking and standing, bending at the neck and waist, squatting, fine manipulation/feeling with the hands, reaching below shoulder level, repetitive motion of the shoulders, arms and hands, use of vision.
• Be able to efficiently work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for locating and promptly removing condemned products that are located near major walkways, drains and standing water.
• Deliver product to condemned container.
• May be required to clean floors using a hand held water broom.
• May be required to monitor and maintain the free flow of all drains in the production area.
• Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and working to achieve synergy within the organization.
• Familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems and understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
