About The Position

The Packer position involves packing the appropriate number of bags into a box and pushing the box down the line. This role requires participation as a member of the team, adhering to Simmons Operating Systems principles, and performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives. The work environment is inside line work around loud equipment and machines, with walking around drains, footbaths, and hoses in a wet environment. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as earplugs, apron, gloves, hairnet/beardnet, and required footwear are necessary.

Requirements

• Constant standing, bending and twisting at the neck and waist, simple grasping with the hands, fine manipulation/feeling with the hands, pushing/pulling, reaching at or below shoulder level, repetitive motion of the shoulders, arms and hands, use of vision, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Manually pick up bags of product and place them into the box according to customer specification.
• Make sure each box has the correct number of bags.
• Manually pushes the box down the line.
• Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and resolving issues.
• Maintains familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems and understands the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
