Floor Care Technician - Housekeeping (FT)

About The Position

The Floor Care Technician is responsible for maintaining flooring surfaces—including tile, carpet, and cement—throughout the resort properties to meet cleanliness and safety standards while providing outstanding customer service to guests and staff. The role performs routine floor cleaning and equipment maintenance, responds to service calls, reports floor-related issues, and coordinates special cleaning projects with management and other departments. The employee must follow resort policies, OSHA standards, environmental practices, and grooming and uniform standards, and may assist other housekeeping areas as business needs require.

Requirements

At least 6 months of prior experience operating commercial floor-care cleaning equipment.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Valid Michigan driver’s license and eligibility for coverage under the Resort’s insurance policy.
Must pass a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment.
Demonstrate patience, a positive and upbeat personality, and a team-oriented work ethic.
Exhibit professionalism and tact when interacting frequently with guests and coworkers.
Strong multitasking, organizational, and communication skills.
Maintain a consistently positive attitude.
Ability to meet strict deadlines.
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Ability to handle stressful, fast-paced environments with hard deadlines and long or irregular hours.
Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.

Ability to perform the physical demands described in the posting, including standing, walking, climbing or balancing, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 30 pounds.
Must be able to come into contact with and clean bodily fluids.

Responsibilities

Maintain knowledge of floor-cleaning equipment and appropriate cleaning supplies.
Maintain familiarity with the resort complex and outlying areas.
Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external guests.
Securely maintain and properly care for radios, keys, and resort vehicles, and return them at the end of each shift.
Respond promptly and professionally to service calls via radio, phone, or earpiece.
Clean and maintain floor surfaces daily, including carpet, tile, and cement floors.
Conduct routine cleaning and maintenance of floor-care equipment.
Identify and report floor-related issues or concerns to management.
Coordinate special cleaning projects as needed and collaborate with management on unique floor-care needs.
Communicate professionally with other departments and managers regarding special cleaning needs.
Foster positive working relationships and maintain a supportive attitude with fellow employees.
Follow GTRS grooming and uniform standards and present a professional image to staff and guests.
Follow OSHA standards and resort guidelines for safe machine and chemical use.
Support other housekeeping areas as needed due to business demand or management request.
Maintain open communication with supervisors and management.
Comply with the resort’s environmental practices and sustainability initiatives.
