About The Position

We're looking for a Full-Time Floating Teacher who is versatile, dependable, and genuinely loves the full spectrum of early childhood education. At The Goddard School of Ashland, this role is highly respected, serving as a skilled professional who knows the school, children, and families well enough to enter any classroom and make it feel like home. This role is ideal for someone who loves variety, thrives on building relationships across an entire school community, and desires a full-time career. You will work in a supportive environment, be recognized as a school-wide professional, and build meaningful relationships with every child and family. Some days you will act as the lead teacher, running activities and managing the classroom, while other days you will support a lead teacher. The age group and classroom will change, but your professionalism and care will remain consistent.

Requirements

Have hands-on experience across multiple early childhood age groups (infant through pre-K strongly preferred)
Are adaptable, emotionally steady, and genuinely energized by variety
Earn trust quickly—with children, families, and colleagues
Bring dependability and professionalism every single day
Meet Virginia state licensing and background check requirements
Can lift up to 50 lbs. as needed

Responsibilities

Serve as a skilled, reliable presence across all classrooms (infants through after-school age)
Step into any room — as lead or support — and maintain Goddard's standards for safety, nurturing, and engagement
Build trusting relationships with children and families school-wide
Collaborate with classroom teams and communicate professionally with staff and leadership
Bring calm, confidence, and joy into every classroom you enter
