About The Position

The Goddard School of Ashland is seeking a Part-Time Afternoon Floating Teacher. This unique role offers flexibility, allowing the teacher to move between various classrooms, including infants, toddlers, preschool, pre-K, and sometimes the after-school program (K–3rd grade). Unlike typical childcare jobs that assign teachers to one room, this position provides variety and the opportunity to work with all age groups. Requirements

Have experience working with multiple age groups in a childcare or school setting
Are adaptable, calm under pressure, and quick to connect with children
Are dependable—the school counts on you to show up ready
Meet Virginia state licensing and background check requirements
Can lift up to 50 lbs. as needed

Responsibilities

Step into any classroom (infants through after-school age) with confidence and warmth
Support lead teachers in maintaining safe, nurturing, and engaging environments
Follow Goddard's play-based curriculum and build genuine relationships with children of all ages
Serve as a reliable, calming presence that children and staff can count on
