About The Position

Birch Tree Academy is a STEM-based preschool focused on academic development, discovery, and exploration of science, building, and everyday wonders. The academy prioritizes its staff, offering support, opportunities for professional growth, and internal promotions to management roles such as director or curriculum coordinator. Teachers are given autonomy to design their classroom layout, decor, and daily schedule, and can plan their own curriculum or use provided materials. Management provides regular support, weekly planning time, and invests in continued education by covering Early Childhood Education class costs and offering a $250 bonus upon completion. The work environment is described as fun, supportive, and free of drama. Employees benefit from meals prepared by an in-house chef and enjoy modern facilities. The current opening is for an assistant teacher who is enthusiastic, patient, and kind, expected to collaborate with the lead teacher and contribute to leading the class.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have ability to meet state and/or accreditation requirements for education and experience
• Must have CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
• Must have impeccable references and a proven track record of caring and nurturing children
• Must have excellent organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Help teach a class of 12 student
• Work a full-time schedule (40 hours a week)
• Help plan and teach daily activities and lessons that correspond with the curriculum
• Help promote multi-cultural education
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment
• Help students learn classroom rules and procedures, as well as personal responsibility and respect for fellow students
• Use appropriate behavior management and classroom discipline
• Attend to children's basic needs which might including: feeding them, dressing them, etc
• Supervise class projects, field trips and visits by guest teachers
• Establish consistent communication with parents and children
• Write weekly class and individual student updates to parents
