About The Position

The Floating Medical Assistant provides patient care according to age-specific population needs and assists with managing patient care in a physician office setting under the direct supervision of a provider. This PRN role travels to offices within the FPG network, including locations in Sarasota, Venice, Lakewood Ranch, and other areas. Employees should be available to work at least four days per month, with self-scheduling available. Most offices operate Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; shift start and end times may vary by office. The position has a set pay rate of $22.00 per hour.

Individuals providing care to vulnerable populations must undergo background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Requirements

• Have current, active CMA or RMA certification from an accredited certifying agency; or an active EMT license and at least one year of medical assistant or clinical healthcare experience; or at least one year of medical assistant work experience.
• If not already certified, obtain CMA or RMA certification within 12 months of hire/start date.
• Have Basic Life Support/CPR certification, or obtain it within 30 days of hire/transfer date.
• Be available at least four days per month.

Nice To Haves

• One year of clinical experience in an outpatient physician’s office practice.
• Experience with electronic practice management and electronic health record programs.
• Ability to demonstrate self-direction and initiative.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electronic practice management and electronic health records software, and skill with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
