About The Position

The Floater VBC assists with the daily operations of the Evis department and moves to any area in shipping based on operational needs. The position supports production work across all shipping areas and requires adapting quickly to different positions and situations.

The Floater works as a member of the team, participating in team development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. The role coordinates work to support B.E.S.T. practices, attends appropriate team meetings, fosters team cohesiveness, identifies and communicates issues to the team leader, and supports resolution and improvement efforts. The position also requires familiarity with Simmons operating systems, including quality, security, office environment, and company policies, and awareness of how individual actions affect those systems.

The position operates in a plant environment that may be cold, wet, and noisy. It requires standing, reaching, and moving around the facility throughout the shift, with light to moderate physical effort and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Required or as-needed protective equipment includes waterproof footwear, gloves, an apron, hearing protection, hair nets, and other protective equipment.

Requirements

• Ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and the leadership team.
• Ability to work in a plant environment and remain on one's feet for the entire shift.
• Ability to stand, reach, and move about the facility.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work in a cold, wet, and noisy environment.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred experience in a production process and working with large moving equipment.
• Preference for experience in a poultry or food processing organization.

Responsibilities

• Move to any area in shipping as needed and support production work across all shipping areas.
• Adapt quickly to new positions and situations in all areas.
• Participate in team development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
• Coordinate work to ensure B.E.S.T. practices with team members and attend appropriate team meetings.
• Foster team cohesiveness, identify issues that lack cohesiveness, bring them to the team leader's attention, and support resolution efforts.
• Maintain familiarity with Simmons operating systems and communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
• Perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives.
