About The Position

Riverview Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare in Gadsden, Alabama, is seeking a Float Pool Registered Nurse. The role provides patient care in the ICU, CCU, Telemetry, and/or Medical-Surgical units. Telemetry patients require continuous cardiac monitoring, while Medical-Surgical units care for patients with a range of medical conditions and those recovering from surgery. This is a full-time, night-shift position with hours from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

A sign-on bonus of $20,000 is available for qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply, with details discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of registered nurse experience.
• Current, valid State Registered Nurse License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Nice To Haves

• Current ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained current; listed as preferred.
• Completion of a Critical Care Course.
• Previous acute care hospital experience.
• Ventilator management experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Perform cardiac monitoring and observe telemetry monitors to track heart rhythms; recognize and report arrhythmias or other significant changes in patient condition.
• Care for patients with a broad range of conditions, including infections, diabetes, post-operative recovery, and chronic illnesses.
• Monitor vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, and conduct detailed physical assessments to detect changes in condition.
• Administer medications for cardiac conditions, pain management, infection control, and chronic disease management.
• Manage IV lines, administer fluids, monitor hydration, and ensure correct dosages while observing for potential interactions or side effects.
• Teach patients about heart-healthy practices, conditions, medications, post-discharge care, and follow-up care.
• Provide discharge instructions and lifestyle recommendations, including guidance on lifestyle changes that may improve cardiac health and help prevent readmission.
