About The Position

The Fleet Tech I performs basic preventative maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers. The role includes routine maintenance in accordance with USX preventive-maintenance guidelines, minor repairs and inspections, checking vehicle fluids, changing tires, and greasing mechanical parts. The technician is expected to maintain productivity and complete most jobs within or close to SRT times, and may perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be at least 18 years old to work in the USX shop environment.
• Ability to read and write.
• Must provide personal tools adequate to perform the job functions.
• D.O.T. and Brake certification required to perform PMs and brake work.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements described in the job posting, with reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

• Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program; may substitute for one year of required experience.
• At least one year of mechanical experience.
• Experience in the transportation industry.
• Computer experience.
• OEM online certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic and routine preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers according to USX PM guidelines.
• Perform basic or minor repairs and inspections on brakes, tires, wiring, and related components.
• Check vehicle fluids, including transmission fluid, oil, windshield wiper fluid, and antifreeze.
• Change vehicle tires.
• Grease mechanical parts.
• Maintain a high productivity level and complete most jobs within or close to SRT times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
