About The Position

The Fleet Operations Supervisor ensures seamless transportation operations across all shifts, providing leadership and support to drivers, the distribution center, and the Store Support Center (SSC). The role is responsible for dispatching, store communications, driver safety and compliance, and promoting a culture of operational excellence and safety. It requires 10% travel.

Requirements

• Proven leadership in transportation operations.
• In-depth knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations and the CSA program.
• Proficient written and verbal communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail, planning, and organizational skills.
• Understanding of driver logs, hours of service, and vehicle safety inspections.
• Proficiency in transportation optimization software and MS Office.
• Ability to function in a high-stress environment.
• Knowledge of US geography.
• 1–3 years in transportation operations for a retailer, manufacturing company, major carrier, or logistics company.
• Experience managing 20–40+ drivers.
• Current CDL preferred and must be maintained.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in business or Logistics, or equivalent experience.
• On-site driver management experience.
• Experience with satellite dispatch systems such as McLeod, TMW, Telogis, Dispatch Tracks, or AS400.
• Current CDL.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily and after-hours transportation operations, including dispatch, store deliveries, and reverse logistics.
• Ensures FMCSA and DOT compliance, driver safety, and legal operations.
• Builds strong relationships with drivers through regular communication and quarterly face-to-face meetings.
• Manages driver training, retention, time at home, load optimization, equipment usage, and performance metrics such as idle reduction and mpg improvement.
• Responds to driver emergencies, resolves load issues such as overweight loads and paperwork problems, and maintains nightly issue logs.
• Monitors satellite communications, reports late deliveries, and plans swaps as needed.
• Completes required reports and maintains effective use of the driver management system.
