About The Position

Halter is seeking a motivated and high-performing Fleet Specialist to join their team in New Zealand. This role supports the maintenance and performance of Halter’s on-farm hardware infrastructure. The Fleet Specialist will be responsible for ensuring systems operate efficiently, resolving technical issues quickly, and refining hardware reliability across the customer network. This is a hands-on position based in Palmerston North, requiring strong technical ability, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to field operations. The role involves maintaining and upgrading infrastructure, deploying new equipment, and providing exceptional service and support to customers. The Fleet Specialist will collaborate closely with hardware, product, and customer success teams, acting as a liaison between the field and the Auckland HQ. This role offers the opportunity to significantly impact the transformation of New Zealand’s dairy and livestock industry through agri-tech innovation.

Requirements

  • Practical, hands-on experience with tools, electrical work, construction, networking, or equipment fitting is a must.
  • A proactive approach, with a willingness to tackle challenges head-on and figure things out on the go.
  • Practical skills and resourcefulness, with the ability to handle a wide range of tasks even without specific technical training.
  • Ability to manage your own time so that tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different locations.
  • A dedication to providing the highest quality service, ensuring that Halter’s infrastructure is always operating at its best.
  • Spontaneous & planned travel will be included in this role. You might be 3 or 4 days on the road per week. You may also be 3 nights away from home per week.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the upkeep and repair of Halter’s infrastructure to ensure seamless operations.
  • Diagnose issues with hardware and provide feedback to relevant teams.
  • Transition smoothly between tasks, from repairing and upgrading infrastructure to delivering towers and collars.
  • Provide critical on-site support during farm deployments, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring successful installations.
  • Be part of the global on-call roster to support tower-related incidents and proactively find solutions.
  • Work collaboratively across all Halter teams to ensure alignment and successful customer outcomes.
  • Address and resolve technical challenges promptly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to farm operations.
  • Manage a variety of tasks, often simultaneously, to meet the dynamic needs of the role.
  • Collect, interpret, and analyze data from hardware to optimize processes and inform decision-making.
  • Extract actionable insights to improve operational efficiency and resolve issues proactively.
  • Develop and manage a maintenance system for the NZ market.
  • Travel within the South Island region and some NZ-wide travel will be required.
