About The Position

The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and servicing AC&T vehicles and equipment—including transports, tankers, delivery trucks, pumping vehicles, portable toilet trucks, pickup trucks, and vans—in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and practical manner. The role is based at the ACT Corporate Office in Hagerstown, Maryland, and reports to the Fleet Maintenance Manager. The mechanic must be able to work independently and be on call one week per month.

Requirements

High school graduate.
3–5 years of experience; industry background preferred.
Knowledge of engines and controls.
Knowledge of brakes and suspensions.
Knowledge of hydraulics and ANSI A92.2 guidelines.
Knowledge of various vehicles and equipment, such as bucket trucks and forklifts.
Skill in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems on trucks and equipment.
Skill in welding and cutting.
Skill in DOT inspections.
Ability to operate equipment such as backhoes and trenchers.
Ability to move, operate, lift, and store specialized equipment, including hand tools, welding equipment, shop machines, and power tools.
Ability to complete repairs involving bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching, and balancing.
Ability to accurately read gauges and dials.
Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
Ability to discern color.
Ability to perform repetitive wrench motions.
Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
