About The Position

Our Diesel Mechanics start at $40.00 to $45.00 hour depending on experience! This role is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, rebuilding, replacing, and completing all required repairs on diesel equipment such as tractors, trailers, bobtails, and lift gates. The position involves performing preventative maintenance within DOT standards, receiving road calls, assigning third-party vendors, and collaborating with business partners on repair plans. The mechanic will maintain a clean and safe work environment, utilize a fleet maintenance software system tablet for documentation, and provide backup to other maintenance shop personnel. This role requires a willingness to assume increased responsibility and obtain additional certificates. The position is based in a US Foods maintenance facility and requires working in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

Requirements

  • Must have 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs.
  • Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience in administering appropriate PM program.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed); basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Class-A CDL license and DOT certification
  • Experience using fleet maintenance software
  • Welding ability

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
  • Receive road calls, assign third party vendor, and work with business partners on plan of action.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.
  • Utilize fleet maintenance software system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
  • Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certificates.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
