About The Position

The Fleet Mechanic provides maintenance for MEI's fleet of Ford and Dodge service trucks (both gas and diesel 250 thru 450), forklifts (up to Versa Lift 100/1400k), various make/models of tractors and flatbed trailers including: Landoll/KS RGN flatbed trailers. The ideal candidate can perform mid-level mechanic work on gas and diesel vehicles, routine PM service, brake service, and hydraulic systems. This role involves determining vehicle condition through inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts, and keeping equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and completing as-needed procedures. The mechanic will also verify vehicle performance through test drives, adjusting controls and systems, and maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs. Additionally, the role includes keeping shop equipment operating, containing costs by using warranty and evaluating service/parts options, managing supplies through inventory and ordering, and enhancing the maintenance department's reputation by taking ownership of requests and exploring opportunities to add value. Housekeeping duties in the assigned area are also required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
  • Excellent attention to details, thoroughness, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Two to five years proven fleet mechanic experience preferred.
  • Class A CDL license preferred.
  • Hydraulic equipment experiences preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine vehicle condition and identify worn and damaged parts.

  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options.
  • Manage supplies by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Complete housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area daily and/or when required.
  • Complete required papers.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
