About The Position

Cape Ann Marina is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fleet Mechanic at a busy year-round boat yard marina facility. The focus is keeping all major equipment fully operational, maintained and ready to go. Duties include performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems, and repairing or replacing parts. Equipment includes but not limited to diesel engines, forklifts, marine travel lifts, man lifts, hydraulics, winches, pumps and more. The mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, ordering parts along side our parts department, and fixing the equipment. Staff golf carts and vehicles and some small engine repairs are also part of our fleet needs.

Requirements

Must be authorized to lawfully work in the U.S
A desire for job stability, security and quality work. Our fleet will always have the need to be maintained by mechanics who desire and take pride in caring for their own fleet and equipment
Diesel engine repair and maintenance experience.
Hydraulics, winches and pump knowledge.
Small engine repair experience
Two-stroke engine repair knowledge
Experience operating and maintaining lifts (travel lift, man lift, forklifts)
Your own basic tools for engine repair and maintenance
Ability to read and comprehend instruction manuals and diagnostic charts for purpose of learning and troubleshooting and analyze repair of a mechanical or electrical nature
Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move over fifty (50) pounds while performing the core functions of the position
Technician must own and maintain required personal tools, toolbox, and test equipment to perform their daily functions.
One to three years related experience and/or training.
Professional and detail-oriented thought process.
Able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy items of 75 pounds or more; as well as bending standing, climbing, or walking.
Able to work various shifts, including weekends.
Must be able to work safely in an environment containing chemicals, cleaning materials, dust, and noise.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree preferred not necessary
Class A or B CDL license (preferred)
Hoisting License preferred (1b – crane operator, 2a/1c – excavators, bobcats (small equipment)

Responsibilities

Perform duties independently according to direction from management.
Identifies and reports any items that are in need of repair and/or pose a safety hazard.
Effectively communicates required administrative processes for equipment logging and preventative maintenance.
Works together with the marine services department.
Responsible for keeping work area clean and safe at all times.
Must adhere to all safety practices and standards.
Conduct safety inspections, maintain records and respond to emergency breakdowns.
Provides timely response to work orders and assignments.
Repair, recondition, and maintain equipment components.
Prepare and complete electronic work orders.
Maintain company equipment; to be kept in clean, orderly, and functioning condition.
Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs).
Read and understand Manufacturer provided literature.
Communicate with associates and management effectively regarding equipment conditions, issues, and recommendations.
Routinely required to work under inclement weather conditions.
Promote a safe work environment, and comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
