About The Position

This position is for a Mechanic in the Engineering Department. The role involves providing coverage for various mechanical duties across different areas of the hotel, including the machine shop, kitchen, laundry, elevators, bowling alley, boiler room, golf cart repair, and special projects. The mechanic will also be cross-trained in multiple areas and on multiple pieces of equipment, which may involve overnight travel for classroom training and testing. Maintaining proper documentation of all repairs and maintenance, along with good communication with staff and supervision, is essential for coordinating repairs and preventive maintenance. The role also requires participation in hotel safety programs.

Requirements

  • Must have previous experience in mechanical fields, related to the specific jobs such as golf cart mechanic, auto mechanics, laundry technician, elevator technician, and restaurant equipment repair.
  • 2 years experience in areas relating to job prioritizing, parts acquisition and decision making.
  • 4 years experience as a working mechanic in multiple fields.
  • Experience working as a plant technician.
  • Experience with equipment repairs related to multi-energy sources (steam, hydraulic, electric, etc).
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions from equipment manuals, service bulletins and schematic blue prints.
  • Ability relay diagnostic problems over the phone to technical support personnel in the process of repairs and part ordering.
  • Ability to communicate with guest, co-workers, supervision and vendors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to take multiple work request from multiple people, prioritize the request and perform the work.
  • Must know and understand proper tools and selection for performing various mechanical repairs.
  • Must know and understand US and metric fasteners and be able to convert between the two.
  • Basic computer skills to aid in the performance of your job, such as: e-mails, on-line, technical support, parts ordering, equipment inventory and work histories.
  • Ability to work unsupervised at times with minimal directions, relying on preventive maintenance needs, work orders and being self motivated.

Nice To Haves

  • Any vocational training a plus, such as: welding, fabrication, machinist, electronics or electrical fields, schematics print reading and trouble shooting diagnostics.
  • Must be open minded to mentoring from other mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Cross training in multiple areas and on multiple pieces of equipment. Some may require overnight travel with class room training and testing.
  • Maintain proper tracking and documentation of all repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain good communication and relations between staff and supervision to coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Attend all training classes as required by the hotel or your supervisor.
  • Participation in Hotel Safety Programs (LO/T), Confined Space, Proper P.P.E., Hearing Conservation, M.S.D.S., Respiratory Protection, Awareness Programs, etc.)
