About The Position

We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the Fleet Mechanic position, to join our Northeast Philadelphia team! This position is full-time benefit eligible. Repairs and maintains diesel and gasoline commercial trucks by performing the following duties. Must live or relocate to within 45 minutes of the branch.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or at least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must have working knowledge that relates to total engine repair and replacement, running gear and suspension, electrical and welding on all company owned vehicles.
  • Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English.
  • Must possess a stable work history with good references.

  • Additional years of experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and make repairs a fleet of light duty delivery trucks (under 10,000gvw)
  • Reads job order and observes and listens to truck in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Maintain a company implemented Preventive Maintenance Program for all branch company vehicles.
  • Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.
  • Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments.
  • Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain parts inventory.
  • Ensure all work orders are completed and entered for repair work completed.
  • Work with Fleet Manager on any problems or issues with trucks, people, inventory, budget and any additional areas of concern that arise.
  • Review and be responsible for budgets on all branch vehicles with Branch Manager.
  • Coordinate with Route Sales People the repairs preformed and note any deficiency.
  • Coordinate outside work with all subcontractors used.
