About The Position

The Fleet Environmental Compliance Manager provides leadership and support for the Heritage Project, a diverse fleet of 16 power generation facilities across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Ohio. This role partners with site EH&S personnel and plant management to drive fleet-wide environmental compliance, standardization, oversight of processes, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring consistency in regulatory programs and reporting. This remote/work-from-home position is a critical leadership role offering the opportunity to lead impactful Environmental, Health, & Safety (EH&S) initiatives across a diverse portfolio of generating technologies and operating environments. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted technical resource, collaborating with stakeholders across the fleet and traveling up to 30% of the time to provide onsite support for plant operations, compliance programs, audits, and strategic projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of advanced technical training and relevant experience, is required.
  • The selected candidate must live in, or be willing to relocate to, a centrally located area within the PA, NJ, and OH region to effectively support the Heritage power plant assets and facilitate frequent travel.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance programs within industrial, utility, power generation, energy, or similarly regulated operating environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of power plant operations and the integration of environmental compliance requirements with plant maintenance, operational, and business objectives.
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal and state environmental regulations related to air emissions, water quality, hazardous materials, waste management, permitting, and regulatory reporting.
  • Working knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices, with the ability to incorporate safety considerations into environmental compliance initiatives and projects.
  • Experience utilizing Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), environmental compliance software, and state and federal electronic reporting platforms.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and compliance initiatives across geographically dispersed facilities while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and influence outcomes across site personnel, management teams, asset owners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, including experience delivering training, preparing technical reports, and communicating complex regulatory requirements to diverse audiences.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.

  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification, or the ability to obtain and maintain certification, is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with site EH&S personnel to promote consistent implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs, policies, procedures, and best practices across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Ohio facilities.
  • Manage fleet-level tracking of environmental compliance obligations, reporting requirements, corrective actions, and permit commitments.
  • Review and support routine environmental compliance reporting prepared by site personnel, helping ensure consistency, accuracy, completeness, and timely submission to regulatory agencies.
  • Assist sites with environmental compliance programs, including air emissions, water quality, stormwater, wastewater, waste management, chemical management, and related permitting requirements.
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and standardization of environmental compliance programs and documentation, including SPCC Plans, SWPPPs, CEMS QA/QC programs, EMS procedures, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the maintenance of environmental compliance records, databases, and reporting tools that support fleet-level program management and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance and project support to site personnel during regulatory inspections, audits, permit modifications, permit renewals, and responses to agency inquiries.
  • Analyze environmental compliance and performance data to identify trends, improvement opportunities, and best practices across the Heritage Project fleet.
  • Lead and support fleet-wide environmental compliance initiatives across Heritage Project facilities to promote regulatory compliance, program standardization, and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate the sharing of environmental compliance best practices, regulatory updates, lessons learned, and compliance strategies among site personnel to drive operational consistency and compliance excellence.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to site EH&S personnel and plant management regarding environmental compliance requirements, permitting obligations, reporting programs, and regulatory initiatives.
  • Support site-led health and safety programs through the communication of corporate expectations, regulatory updates, and industry best practices, while maintaining environmental compliance as the primary focus of the role.
  • Partner with plant management, site EH&S representatives, and asset stakeholders to implement fleet-wide environmental compliance objectives, performance improvement initiatives, and compliance strategies.
  • Travel up to 30% of the time to support Heritage Project facilities across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Ohio, including participation in environmental compliance assessments, audits, training initiatives, site evaluations, and other environmental, health, and safety support activities as needed.
