Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Experience with heavy-duty trucks, fleet vehicles or heavy equipment
Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes and emissions systems
Ability to supply personal hand tools
Strong commitment to safety, quality and teamwork
Ability to pass physical and pre-employment and random drug screens (including marijuana)

Nice To Haves

CDL Class B with air brakes preferred, or ability to obtain
Michigan Heavy Duty certifications preferred
ASE certifications a plus

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose and repair diesel trucks and heavy equipment
Perform preventive maintenance and annual inspections
Troubleshoot Cummins, Mack and Detroit Diesel engines
Diagnose and repair electrical, air brake, steering, suspension, HVAC and hydraulic systems
Diagnose and repair ECMs, TCMs and ACMs
Perform transmission, differential and suspension repairs based on skill level
Utilize fleet maintenance software to review vehicle history, document repairs and complete work orders
Respond to service calls and equipment breakdowns as needed
Fabricate and weld components when required
Maintain a clean, safe and efficient work environment
Communicate with drivers and operators to improve equipment reliability
Support and mentor less experienced mechanics as appropriate
