About The Position

As a member of SpartanNash, a food solutions company and part of the C&S Wholesale Grocers family of companies, the Fleet Coordinator (Backhaul Broker) supports the delivery network by identifying and executing shipments that meet business objectives and improve utilization of drivers, tractors, and trailers. The role ensures shipment costs and margins comply with company protocol, tracks shipments and keeps relevant parties informed of changes, and resolves day-to-day execution issues. It also prepares and inspects documentation needed to complete deliveries and support financial reporting, negotiates with transportation partners, and enters data accurately and promptly into applicable systems. The position is based at 850 76th Street S.W., Byron Center, Michigan 49315. Travel is not required.

Requirements

• Two to five years of experience in transportation, warehouse operations, and/or supply chain.
• Knowledge of the transportation industry, wholesale grocery operations, for-hire transportation, and procurement.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Strong leadership, relationship-building, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the delivery network to identify and execute shipments that meet business objectives and improve driver, tractor, and trailer utilization.
• Ensure shipment costs and margins are in line with company protocol.
• Track and trace shipments and inform all relevant parties of changes.
• Resolve issues arising during day-to-day shipment execution in a timely manner.
• Prepare and inspect required documentation for delivery completion and financial reporting in a timely manner.
• Negotiate as required for shipment execution.
• Complete data entry accurately and promptly in applicable systems.
