About The Position

The Supply Chain Planning and Operations Support role is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing supply chain operations within planning, scheduling, and procurement to optimize the utilization of HCF’s equipment, materials, and workforce while delivering maximum customer satisfaction. This role works collaboratively with regional and global supply chain teams, Product Line Management (PLM), production, quality, technology, and plant management to ensure high levels of service and cash flow performance. The incumbent will participate in monthly plant and regional Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) partnership meetings with divisional planning teams to establish alignment and resolve capacity constraints to support dynamic demand. Additionally, the position will develop and recommend inventory management strategies and implement lean tools to enhance efficiency and drive operational improvements. The role will involve varying levels of project work and participation in cross-functional teams both within the plant and across Corning. This includes enhancing manufacturing efficiency, supply chain operations, and customer service performance. The position will also act as a departmental representative for projects related to Manufacturing Execution Systems (CoMET) and Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP).

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Access.

  • Strong analytical skills to translate customer needs into actionable deliverables.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and experience with SAP.

Nice To Haves

  • 2–5 years of experience in supply chain management; degree in supply chain or APICS certification preferred.
  • Training or certification in Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt certification preferred).
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of cable products, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to champion change and foster adaptability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee production planning and scheduling activities, including order management (from order confirmation to fulfillment), resource planning, delivery commitments, production forecasting, reporting actual manufacturing results against plans, and managing Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) locations.
  • Ensure the plant meets targeted objectives for all delivery metrics, including On-Time Performance (OTP), Order Cycle Time, and order dating.
  • Collaborate with customer service and Product Line Management to manage expectations regarding Available-to-Promise (ATP) levels and manufacturing plans.
  • Supervise production control activities, such as work center loading, coordination of experiments, prioritization of tasks, and serving as the primary liaison between the department and operations, engineering, and quality teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging lean and Six Sigma supply chain tools (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, DMAIC).
  • Act as a business resource for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, working closely with system Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Manage new product implementation processes for release into manufacturing operations.
  • Provide analysis on capacity, inventory, and delivery performance as a member of extended product teams for FR and RB.
  • Develop department personnel by setting clear objectives, conducting performance appraisals, offering constructive feedback, and aligning individual development plans with business goals.
  • Generate reports and analyses to enhance the effectiveness of planning and manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and actively promote safe work practices. This includes taking responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others at the facility, whether working or visiting.
