About The Position

The Flagger/Event Staffer greets customers and creates a welcoming atmosphere by providing excellent customer service. The role directs traffic and helps keep vehicles moving along specific routes in surface lots and garages at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. It also involves assisting customers with credit card payments and pay stations, and setting up and taking down traffic-control equipment. Various shifts are available to sign up for based on availability.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• Strong customer service experience.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
• Ability to speak, read, and comprehend English.
• Open to feedback, differing opinions, and other points of view.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency and timeliness.
• Willingness to work in heat, wind, snow, rain, and other outdoor elements.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 10 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and lift frequently throughout a shift.
• Ability to use two hands to hold a flag while directing traffic.

Nice To Haves

• Attention to detail and ability to handle a high volume of cars are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct customers where to park, answer questions, and resolve issues.
• Use a card reader to accept credit card payments and scan QR codes.
• Set up and take down cones, signs, and barricades.
• Greet customers, maintain a friendly and helpful attitude, and build rapport with parkers in the assigned area.
• Assist customers in parking lots and garages.
• Communicate regularly with co-workers and managers to maintain traffic flow in and out of lots and garages.
