About The Position

The Fitter performs skilled duties and operates equipment for the operation, maintenance, and installation of natural gas piping systems and related natural gas facilities. The position is based in Wilkinsburg; applicants must live within 45 minutes of that location to be eligible. This is a covered function regulated by 49 CFR Part 192 pipeline safety rules and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Possess or have the ability to obtain a Class A CDL.
• Proven experience working outdoors performing construction or manual labor.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment.
• Successfully complete a background investigation, including a criminal history report, motor vehicle report, and DOT drug screening.
• Become operationally qualified and demonstrate proficiency operating a backhoe during the probationary period.

Nice To Haves

• Backhoe experience is preferred.
• Prior pipeline experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the construction, operation, and maintenance of gas distribution, transportation, or production systems.
• Set meters, retire old meter sets, set curb boxes, repair service lines, connect and disconnect meters, and repair leaks.
• Use tapping and other air compressor equipment and make connections at mainlines.
• Dig ditches, backfill, and carry tools and materials related to the job.
• Operate equipment such as backhoes, excavators, and dump trucks.
