About The Position

Metalforms is seeking a Fitter in Beaumont, Texas. Fitters read blueprints and cut, thread, and weld pipes. The role requires strong safety awareness and mechanical skill, and may involve working in confined spaces or at heights.

The position involves preparing work areas, materials, and equipment; planning pipe systems and installations from blueprints; modifying and assembling pipe components; and maintaining and repairing pipe systems and related equipment. Fitters must follow applicable codes and regulatory standards and perform quality work safely and within an acceptable time.

Physical requirements include bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting, reaching, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds is required. Work at heights up to 25 feet may be required.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Knowledge of tape measures and standard measurements.
• Ability to perform degree finding and divide the circumference of welds.
• Knowledge of overhead cranes and hand signals.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills in safe rigging practices.
• Ability to adhere to standards and perform quality work safely within an acceptable time.
• Physical ability to bend, squat, climb, stoop, twist, reach, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• May be required to work at heights up to 25 feet.
• Ability to work in confined spaces or at heights.

Responsibilities

• Inspect the workplace, clear obstructions, and prepare materials and equipment.
• Study blueprints and plan pipe systems and related equipment installations.
• Use tools to modify pipes to specifications.
• Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
• Assemble and weld pipe components and systems.
• Secure pipes to walls and fixtures using brackets, clamps, and welding equipment.
• Repair and maintain pipe systems, supports, and related equipment.
• Comply with relevant codes and regulatory standards.
• Perform quality work safely and within an acceptable time.
