About The Position

We are seeking detail-oriented and experienced Structural Steel Fitters/Fabricators for a growing Steel Fabrication team in York, Pennsylvania. The role involves fitting and assembling structural frameworks, components, and materials such as angle iron, plates, WF sections, and other steel shapes and components. The position pays $22–$24 per hour and works 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Employees must be flexible to work other schedules, overtime, and Saturdays as needed.

Requirements

Pass all tack tests at the FCAW Superior level.
Have superior layout and math skills.
Have a complete understanding of pre-heat functions.
Be able to set up and use a track torch.
Work in compliance with safety policies and procedures.
Be flexible to work any schedule needed, including overtime and Saturdays as needed.

Responsibilities

Lay out, position, align, and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal products according to blueprint and layout specifications.
Safely operate overhead cranes.
Fit mill-to-bear parts, including stiffeners, base plates, and other components.
Operate cutting and heating torches.
Check camber and sweep tolerances of beams and other steel shapes.
Make necessary corrections according to applicable codes and specifications without supervision.
Perform complex heat corrections accurately, following procedures without supervision.
Set up complex jigs or assemblies.
Identify potential hazards and make necessary corrections.
Interpret complex documents, including blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Read weld symbols and prepare joints according to WPS standards.
Produce finished products that meet recognized standards, codes, and customer expectations by maintaining quality procedures and practices.
Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of the work area.
Perform other job-related duties assigned by the supervisor, including cleaning, trash and scrap removal, and other production-related work.
