The Fiscal Specialist position is within the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) at UH at Manoa. This is an 11-month, full-time, temporary position that is expected to begin approximately September 2026. Continuation of employment is contingent upon the availability of funds and satisfactory performance. The role involves assisting with overall grants management, including pre-award, account establishment and maintenance, budget forecasting, procurement, inventory, personnel, disbursing, reporting, and closeout. The specialist will also support senior specialists in managing departments, institutes, and major programs, dealing with various fund types. Additionally, the position provides administrative staff support and advisement to higher-level personnel and programs, learning and applying fiscal administration principles, and assisting with procedure development and report preparation. The role may also involve training junior fiscal staff and conducting fiscal compliance training for Principal Investigators and managers. Effective communication, problem-solving, and teamwork are essential.
