About The Position

As the Fiscal Specialist 2 in Information Technology Services (ITS), you will perform a variety of complex fiscal, purchasing, payroll, and budget-related functions in support of a diverse technology organization serving the Washington State University community. Your responsibilities include processing purchasing transactions; administering payroll and personnel-related fiscal activities; monitoring and reconciling budgets and expenditures; preparing financial reports and analyses; managing procurement activities, including purchasing card reconciliation and compliance; and maintaining financial records in accordance with university, state, and federal regulations. In this position, you will exercise independent judgment in supporting departmental operations, technology initiatives, and special projects, while providing excellent customer service and ensuring effective stewardship of ITS financial resources.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours OR 10 semester hours of college level accounting; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and information management systems.
  • Demonstrated fiscal administrative experience relating to budgeting, funding, purchasing, billing and/or travel.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability of multi-tasking, priority planning, and flexibility.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to use independent judgment, tact and diplomacy.
