About The Position

We are looking for a dynamic, hands-on individual to support the day-to-day fiscal activities of our fast-paced and innovative Business Office. This position performs a broad range of general accounting functions, supports grant accounting and financial management, and assists with maintaining strong internal controls. As a result, the Fiscal Services Coordinator will develop a broad understanding of school district accounting and Business Office operations.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Excel software, spreadsheets, data import and export, vendor software applications, and other technology to support efficient and effective operation and to create, balance, analyze, and verify data and information.
  • Minimum Associate's Degree in accounting or related field, or actively enrolled in a program to attain a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Positive and constructive attitude
  • Proficient in developing and using complex spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet software.
  • Demonstrated accounting and financial aptitude
  • Dependable. There is much work to be accomplished with a small staff.
  • Great interpersonal skills balanced with assertiveness to resolve issues and get the job done right.
  • Prioritize tasks and switch tasks quickly while maintaining focus, accuracy, and task completion.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a broad range of general accounting duties, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, cash transfers, invoicing, account reconciliations, cash management, fixed assets, and other accounting functions as assigned.
  • Assist with grant accounting and financial management, including monitoring grant budgets and expenditures, maintaining supporting documentation, reconciling grant accounts, assisting with financial reporting, and helping ensure expenditures comply with grant requirements.
  • Support accounts payable, purchase orders, purchasing cards, parent payments, payroll, and other Business Office processes.
  • Check and review financial records, authorized approvals, and supporting documentation to ensure transactions are accurately recorded and District accounting and payroll records are complete and reliable.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding expenditures from the General Fund, Community Services Fund, School/Student Activity Fund, Food Services Fund, grant funds, and other District funds.
  • Uphold District processes, Board Policies, auditor expectations, grant requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Be/become proficient with various software applications such as New World Systems, ARUX, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software, Microsoft Word document processing software, gmail, Google Docs, and as others develop.
  • Work directly with appropriate contacts within the department and District, as well as outside vendors, auditors, granting agencies, and other external resources.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate professional judgment when handling sensitive financial and personnel information.
  • Embrace existing and emerging technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Business Office operations.
  • Provide backup support and cross-train for other positions within the Business Office.
