About The Position

Canada Soccer is seeking an Assistant Coach for the Women’s National Team, to support the Head Coach and technical staff in delivering a high-performance environment through coaching and analysis of the Women’s National Team. The role combines tactical insight, player development support, and performance analysis across both camp and non-camp periods. It is preferred that the assistant coach has international Head Coaching or Assistant Coaching experience. The successful candidate will embody Canada Soccer’s values, demonstrate leadership within a high-performance environment, and contribute meaningfully to both immediate results and the long-term development of the women’s game in Canada.

Requirements

  • Pro coaching license preferred, or National A License (or equivalent international certification).
  • Strong understanding of football tactics, game principles, and match preparation.
  • Experience with video software (e.g., Hudl, Wyscout, Sportscode) and match analysis tools/software.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate analysis into clear coaching messages.
  • Experience coaching in elite senior or professional soccer environments (preferably women’s soccer and/or international level).
  • Strong understanding of long-term player development and national team pathway alignment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary staff environment while assuming significant responsibility and initiative.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally and to work flexible hours outside standard business schedules; expect approximately 90–100 travel days per year, with increased travel during senior final tournament years (e.g., World Cups and/or Olympic competitions).
  • Professional or international coaching experience and advanced coaching licenses are considered an asset.
  • Bilingual (English/French) preferred; additional languages considered an asset.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • A current and valid police background check and Safe Sport Roster certification are required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating all technical and tactical aspects of Senior National Team camps, matches, and international competitions.
  • Contribute to match preparation, opponent analysis, training design, and in-game management.
  • Lead designated technical, tactical, and unit-based responsibilities, including positional units and individual development plans for senior athletes, as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Provide detailed player assessments to support squad selection, long-term succession planning, and integration of youth national team players.
  • Collaborate with the Talent ID department and youth national team staff to monitor high-potential players and ensure clarity in progression from U17, U20, and emerging talent pools into the senior environment.
  • Support the integration and onboarding of transitioning youth national team players into the senior team culture and performance standards.
  • Contribute to fostering a high-performance, accountable, and athlete-centered team environment that balances competitive excellence with long-term sustainability.
  • Support coach development initiatives internally within Canada Soccer, as required.
  • Represent the Senior Women’s National Team internally and externally as delegated by the Head Coach and sporting leadership.
  • Support strategic squad planning, succession planning, and long-term roster construction in alignment with the national playing philosophy.
  • Serve as acting Head Coach when required.
