About The Position

Student and Campus Life (SCL) at Cornell University inspires transformation in all Cornell students on their journey of individual, academic and personal evolution. The SCL division supports campus on student life matters including public service, health, wellbeing, connection and belonging, residential living, food services, sports, recreation, career services, and student activities and organizations. SCL provides support and services to roughly 25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students on multiple campuses in the U.S. and abroad. Cornell University is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Ivy League, fielding teams in 37 intercollegiate sports and providing a comprehensive physical education program. Athletics and Physical Education offers a diverse program of physical and outdoor education, recreational services, intramural sports and intercollegiate athletic competition, plus Wellness programs for faculty and staff, fitness centers and fitness classes for the entire Cornell community. The Assistant Coach for Women’s Volleyball supports the Head Coach in the planning and operation of the Women’s Volleyball program at Cornell University. This is a 10-months per year, full-time position with a starting salary range of $52,213-$54,000, dependent on experience, skills, and qualifications. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and up to 1 year relevant experience or equivalent combination
  • Credentials should reflect proven success in coaching, recruiting, and working with student athletes
  • Knowledgeable of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Must be highly motivated with an outstanding work ethic and a relentless recruiter
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members

Nice To Haves

  • Collegiate coaching experience preferred, especially in NCAA Division I
  • Experience with video editing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with team practice and competitions
  • Provide input on player evaluation and other decisions concerning team operations
  • Actively scout opponents
  • Break down the performance of our own student athletes
  • Conduct on- and off-campus recruiting responsibilities to identify, encourage and evaluate application and acceptance of student athletes at Cornell in accordance with the Ivy League, NCAA and University policies as assigned by the head coach
  • Foster a culture of belonging and a healthy work environment by communicating across differences
  • Be cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming
  • Show respect, compassion, and empathy
  • Engage and support others regardless of background or perspective
  • Speak up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately
  • Support work/life integration of oneself and others
