About The Position

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is looking for someone who is excited to share their passion for robotics while mentoring and supporting high school students as they design, build, and compete with a FIRST Robotics team. This is a hands-on opportunity to work alongside students, encourage creativity and problem-solving, and help prepare the team for the 2026 FIRST Robotics competition season. The FIRST Robotics Team Co-coaches will work closely with the Director of Innovation and Innovation Lab Coordinator to help students design, build, and practice with a robot that can compete in the 2026 FIRST robotics competitions. The season consists of a few days before winter break (11/30 - 12/10), and then from January 9 through April 18th. Most pre-season practices will take place at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, 1818 W National Ave in Milwaukee. All regular build sessions will take place at the Milwaukee Robotics Academy (MRA), located at 3063 N Fratney St in Milwaukee.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Attend as many parent meetings as you're able to build community and share information with families. These meetings will be organized and run by the CRJ Innovation staff.
  • Complete the Archdiocese Safe Environment training and become an approved van driver for CRJ Milwaukee.
  • Attend the launch day event on January 9, 2026 (approximately 9am-4pm)
  • Take the lead in coaching one weekday evening (3:30-7pm) per week and assist with additional drop-in support when feasible.
  • Take the lead in coaching one Saturday build session (9:00am-3pm) per month, with additional drop-in support when feasible.
  • Take the lead in coaching - with at least one other Co-coach - for the City Champs scrimmage (tentatively scheduled for mid-February) and one of the two district events over a weekend in March (Friday evening - Sunday evening).
  • Help prepare for and attend the year-end banquet in late April or early May.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Innovation.
