About The Position

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) is seeking First Nations and/or Inuit Summer Students to support the operations and information needs of assigned programs. These positions offer an opportunity to gain valuable workplace skills, including soft and technical skills, and experience. Summer Students will develop and apply technical and administrative processes, maintain program-related information gathering and recording processes, understand program objectives and standards, and apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. They will work cooperatively within a team environment, contributing to office efficiency, and will receive mentorship for career development.

Requirements

  • Must identify as First Nation or Inuit Youth
  • High school or post-secondary student, preferably with an interest in a healthcare career, and returning to studies in September 2026
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and internet use
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and work effectively in a team
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information

Nice To Haves

  • Entry-level or intermediate work experience or workplace skills training is an asset
  • Experience working with a First Nations organization is considered an asset
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Perform various duties as assigned by the respective Unit Manager(s), Human Resources Advisor, or Executive Assistant.
  • Support the operations and information needs of assigned programs.
  • Develop and apply appropriate technical and administrative processes.
  • Develop and maintain program-related information gathering and recording processes.
  • Understand program objectives and standards.
  • Apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedures to all activities.
  • Work cooperatively within a team environment, contributing to the office’s overall efficiency.
  • Receive mentorship to support career development.
