About The Position

This role is for a First Mate who will assist the Captain in the safe operation and navigation of the vessel. The First Mate will supervise and coordinate daily deck operations and crew activities, ensuring compliance with all maritime safety regulations and company policies. This position involves conducting safety drills, inspections, and emergency preparedness training, as well as overseeing the loading, unloading, and securing of cargo. The First Mate is also responsible for maintaining deck equipment, machinery, and the overall cleanliness of the vessel, monitoring weather conditions, and assisting in route planning. Additionally, the role requires maintaining logs, reports, and required documentation, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring the proper use of protective equipment. The First Mate will act as Officer in Charge during assigned watches.

Requirements

• Valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with appropriate endorsements
• STCW certification (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping)
• Minimum required maritime experience (based on company needs)
• Strong leadership and crew management skills
• Knowledge of navigation systems, maritime law, and safety procedures
• Ability to work long hours in physically demanding conditions
