About The Position

The First Mate Engagement Manager leads structured engagement and distance learning delivery across North America. This role accelerates onboarding, strengthens advisor capability, and designs targeted enablement interventions aligned to regional commercial priorities. In partnership with Directors of Sales and Business Development Managers, this role translates sales strategy into structured engagement programs that elevate confidence, address capability gaps, and support sustained regional performance. This is a high-delivery, high-impact role focused on disciplined execution, meaningful partnership, and building a scalable engagement engine that strengthens the Virgin Voyages trade ecosystem. The role may also provide in-person event or regional activation support where required. Remote candidates residing in Florida, Texas, Georgia, and Pennsylvania are welcome. For those based in South Florida, this role is headquartered at VVHQ in Plantation, FL, embracing a hybrid work environment with collaboration days on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and remote work on Mondays and Fridays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • 5+ years in travel, hospitality, sales enablement, learning, engagement, or advisor development; cruise industry experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the travel trade ecosystem, including host agencies, consortia, and regional sales structures.
  • Demonstrated success delivering structured engagement programmes that improve capability, confidence, and commercial outcomes.
  • Experience designing and facilitating high-impact virtual and in-person training sessions.
  • Ability to interpret engagement data and advisor insight to refine delivery and optimise performance.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Brand stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to influence and energise diverse advisor audiences.
  • Experience operating within structured performance frameworks and disciplined delivery cadences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structured engagement and distance learning programs that translate commercial strategy into practical advisor confidence.
  • Accelerate onboarding through clearly defined activation journeys that reduce friction and build early selling momentum.
  • Drive adoption of digital learning pathways and enablement tools, ensuring advisors are equipped to sell effectively.
  • Deliver high-impact virtual engagement sessions that move beyond product knowledge into applied selling confidence.
  • Design and continuously optimize learning journeys, curricula, and instructional content using adult learning and instructional design methodologies.
  • Partner closely with Directors of Sales and Business Development Managers to identify regional capability gaps and align engagement initiatives to commercial priorities.
  • Design targeted enablement interventions for priority accounts or underperforming segments.
  • Integrate campaign messaging across learning and engagement touchpoints.
  • Maintain an active presence across Social Engagement channels, responding to advisor questions, contributing to discussions, and driving sustained interaction that reinforces learning and activation initiatives.
  • Capture insight from advisor interactions and escalate recurring themes or friction points to Sales and cross-functional teams.
  • Represent Virgin Voyages professionally across virtual and in-person environments, supporting regional events or trade activations where required.
