About The Position

Under general supervision: operates fire trucks, pumpers, hoses, and extinguishers during fire suppressions and/or rescue operations; tests and maintains fire detection and suppression equipment; inspects and prepares fire pre-plans for building, grounds, and facilities; maintains fire station buildings, facilities and apparatus; responds to fire alarms, emergency medical calls, traffic accidents, rescue and other emergency calls to protect life and property; participates in training, drill and independent study activities; conducts fire safety education classes; performs various staff support assignments; and performs related work as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent
  • Must possess, at the time of appointment, a valid Georgia Class C Driver’s License
  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • No felony convictions within the previous ten (10) years

  • Georgia State Certified Firefighter certification
  • Georgia Medical First Responder certification
  • Structural Fire Control certification

  • Obtain a Georgia Class F Non-Commercial Driver’s License within the first twelve (12) months of employment
  • Obtain Firefighter I, ICS 100, 200, 700, 800, Haz-Mat Operations certifications within the first six (6) months of employment
  • Obtain Georgia State Certified Firefighter, Georgia Medical First Responder, Structural Fire Control, Interior Search & Rescue I certifications within the first twelve (12) months of employment
