Firearms Specialist (FullTime) - Canandaigua, NY
About The Position
The Firearms Specialist assists with customer service and sales in the Sporting Goods Department and is ultimately responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all records involving firearm sales. The position requires the employee to be at least 21 years old and have a pistol permit. The role also involves general retail duties, including greeting customers, answering service questions, pricing and stocking merchandise, receiving freight, and assisting with cycle counts. The Firearms Specialist helps keep the store prepared for ATF and internal audits and understands and trains other staff on firearm-sale documentation and procedures.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have a pistol permit.
- Must have a good understanding of firearm-sale documentation and procedures, including the topics listed in the job description.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers in the retail store and assist with customer service questions.
- Price merchandise and make price changes as requested by store management.
- Stock and face merchandise on shelves as requested by store management.
- Assist with receiving freight and organize incoming products as directed by store management.
- Assist with cycle counts.
- Keep the store prepared for ATF and/or internal audits.
- Complete firearm-sale records accurately and on time.
- Understand and assist with training other staff on A&D log requirements and best practices; filing denied and no-transfer 4473s; standardized filing of completed 4473s; recording ARs and multiple sales; multiple handgun sales and proper recording; making corrections on a 4473; acceptable customer identification; when a sale should be refused; and what constitutes a straw sale and how to complete [the description ends mid-sentence].
