About The Position

The Firearms Specialist assists with customer service and sales in the Sporting Goods Department and is responsible for timely and accurate completion of all records involving firearm sales. The role also supports retail store operations, including merchandise pricing and stocking, receiving freight, cycle counts, audit preparation, and training staff on firearm-sale records and procedures.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years old.
• Must have a pistol permit.
• Must have a good understanding of firearm-sale recordkeeping and procedures, including A&D logs and 4473 forms.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist with customer service questions in the retail store.
• Price merchandise and make price changes as requested by store management.
• Stock and face merchandise on shelves as requested by store management.
• Assist with receiving freight and organize incoming products as directed by store management.
• Assist with cycle counts.
• Keep the store prepared for ATF and internal audits.
• Assist in training staff on A&D log requirements and best practices; filing denied and no-transfer 4473s; standardized filing of completed 4473s; recording AR and multiple sales; multiple handgun sales and their proper recording; corrections to 4473s by employees and customers; acceptable customer identification; when to refuse a sale; and identifying and handling straw sales.
