About The Position

Shambaugh & Son is looking for a mission-critical fire alarm technician who installs, tests, and maintains high-reliability life safety systems in sensitive environments like data centers, hospitals, and communication hubs where any system failure or accidental discharge causes catastrophic operational downtime.

Requirements

Deep understanding of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code).
Minimum 2 to 5 years of hands-on low-voltage electrical or commercial fire alarm experience, preferably in industrial or mission-critical settings.
Proficiency in programming major manufacturer platforms.
Must have the ability to lift/move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 lbs.
Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working in ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

NICET Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Install complex low-voltage wiring, control panels, and detection devices according to strict engineering blueprints.
Perform comprehensive point-to-point testing and verification of integrated fire alarm and special hazard suppression systems.
Conduct routine diagnostic checks and battery load tests to prevent unexpected system failures.
Diagnose ground faults, wiring anomalies, and communication errors swiftly using specialized multimeters and diagnostic tools.
Maintain meticulous records of testing results, system changes, and NFPA-mandated inspection reports.
Collaborate with data center engineers, project managers, and safety officers to execute work during scheduled maintenance windows.
