About The Position

The Finishing Supervisor leads and directs railcar production for the Service Center Finishing Department. The role is accountable for supervising skilled labor employees and overseeing safety, quality, production, and cost. It ensures high-quality work is completed as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
3–5 years of relevant work experience in a fast-paced production environment.
Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work in extreme temperature environments.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights.
Ability to walk for extended periods.
Ability to sit or work in front of a computer for extended periods.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and customer focus, particularly for internal customers.
Ability to work well with others positively and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Leadership, decision-making, communication, problem-solving, and technical or professional knowledge.

Nice To Haves

2–4 years of mechanical finishing experience.
Previous supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and supervise shift production in accordance with priority goals and resource availability to ensure repairs are completed adequately and on time.
Perform in-process quality audits.
Communicate work-area status and activities to Production Managers.
Coordinate with other work areas to facilitate smooth railcar flow.
Use technical experience, expertise, and problem-solving skills to achieve and maintain quality repairs.
Train, counsel, and motivate agreement workers to maintain an effective workforce.
Ensure all necessary administrative work is complete and accurate.
