About The Position

The Valuation Manager of Fine Jewelry and Watches at TheRealReal is responsible for day-to-day appraisals and client service at the company’s Glendale retail store. The role prices and authenticates fine jewelry and watches according to the company’s acceptance standards, and provides pre-consignment pricing to consignors and internal sales partners. The appraiser serves as a subject-matter expert, educating consignors, customers, and colleagues and delivering a high-touch, consultative client experience. The position also supports occasional on-site supply events and remote pricing initiatives for cross-functional teams.

This is an on-site position at TheRealReal’s Glendale, California retail store. The role requires flexibility to work certain weekend days and a process-driven approach with exceptional attention to detail.

TheRealReal is an online marketplace for authenticated resale luxury goods. Its specialists authenticate, price, photograph, list, and ship consigned items, supporting the circular economy by giving luxury goods new life.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of fine jewelry in the primary and secondary markets.
• 2–5 years of experience in a customer-facing role in the luxury space.
• Flexibility to work certain weekend days.
• Proactive, self-directed approach, with the ability to anticipate business needs and meet internal and external deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including identifying potential obstacles in advance and ensuring smooth execution of valuation office processes.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple complex, time-sensitive situations calmly and composedly.
• Passion for delivering a high-touch luxury client experience.
• Polished, professional presence and strong presentation skills.
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Sales experience is strongly encouraged.
• GIA credentials such as Graduate Gemologist (GG), Accredited Jewelry Professional (AJP), or equivalent coursework or experience are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate valuation appointments and provide clients with a relaxed, consultative experience that explains the value of their items in the marketplace.
• Conduct real-time valuations and authentication of fine jewelry and watches using industry-specific tools.
• Provide pre-consignment pricing services to consignors and internal sales partners.
• Maintain an understanding of pricing trends and item sell-through velocity in collaboration with the Pricing and Authentication teams.
• Own the sell-through performance and velocity of personally priced items.
• Manage appointment-to-consignment conversion metrics to support client satisfaction and business results.
• Partner with the Store Manager to understand customer needs and stay current on store operations and priorities.
• Support additional store and team needs to ensure a seamless retail experience.
• Support occasional supply events through on-site valuations and participate in remote pricing initiatives for cross-functional teams.
