About The Position

This is a Part-Time Professor position for the Fall 2026 academic period, teaching the course PED 3188 I00 - Teaching Instrumental Music at the Intermediate Division. This course is an introduction to teaching instrumental music at the intermediate and senior divisions, covering the impact of the discipline on the whole learner, individualized instruction, theoretical frameworks, pedagogical implications, curriculum guidelines, program development, teaching strategies, and evaluation techniques. The course is delivered in a HYBRID format, consisting of ten in-person sessions on campus (30 hours) and two online modules through Brightspace (6 hours).

Requirements

Master's degree in education (PhD in Education preferred).
Qualification to teach in Ontario schools (OCT certification) at the Intermediate/Senior levels, or research-based work focused on instrumental music.
Recent experience in teaching or school board administration at the Intermediate-Senior level, with a specialist qualification in Instrumental Music.
Knowledge of the current Ontario Curriculum.
Knowledge of the Ethical Standards and Standards of Practice of the Ontario College of Teachers.
Competence in a second language (passive).

Responsibilities
