About The Position

Sunbelt Rentals is hiring a Financial Leadership Program Associate for a two-year, cross-functional Finance and Accounting rotational program. The associate completes four six-month rotations across core finance disciplines, gaining exposure to the company’s business model, operating environment, and financial structure. The program develops financial, analytical, and business acumen through hands-on project work and real-world decision support, in partnership with finance, operations, and corporate stakeholders. Associates deliver capstone presentations, follow an individualized development plan, and receive structured mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback. Potential rotations include Accounting / Operations Accounting, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Operations Finance, and Financial Systems / Finance Technology. Additional corporate finance exposure may occur based on business needs. Responsibilities vary by rotation and may include supporting close processes, budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis and reporting, operational performance analysis, financial systems and reporting improvements, process automation, and finance technology solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Strong academic performance, typically evidenced by a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, analytical, and communication skills.
Desire for continuous learning and development of cross-functional finance skills.
Detail-oriented, proactive problem solver with strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
Highly motivated and self-directed, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
Willingness and ability to travel periodically as required by rotation assignments.
Ability to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job.

Responsibilities

Participate in a two-year, cross-functional Finance and Accounting rotational program.
Complete four six-month rotations across core finance disciplines, with increasing scope and accountability.
Gain exposure to Sunbelt’s business model, operating environment, and financial structure.
Develop financial, analytical, and business acumen through hands-on project work and real-world decision support.
Partner with finance, operations, and corporate stakeholders.
Deliver rotational capstone presentations summarizing learnings, project outcomes, and business impact.
Execute an individualized development plan aligned with career goals and organizational needs.
Receive structured mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback throughout the program.
Support month-, quarter-, and year-end close processes; prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses; and partner with operations on accurate financial reporting.
Support company-wide and business-unit budgeting, forecasting, and planning; perform variance, cost, and operational performance analyses; and develop financial models and scenario analyses.
Prepare financial materials and key metric reporting for leadership reviews and decision-making.
Partner with operational leaders on financial and capital initiatives and identify opportunities for operational and financial improvement.
Support financial reporting structures, systems, and platforms, including maintenance, optimization, process automation, and data integrity initiatives.
Partner with Finance and IT teams to translate business needs into solutions.
