Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation•Hoover, AL

About The Position

The Financial Institution Internship (FII) is a one-year paid internship assigned to the Division of Risk Management Supervision (RMS), beginning in May 2027. Interns primarily participate in examinations of insured financial institutions, working under the direction and supervision of an Examiner or a higher-graded team member. The internship may lead to an offer of post-graduation employment as a Financial Institution Specialist, but conversion is not automatic or guaranteed. Following successful completion of program requirements and depending on FDIC needs, an intern may be non-competitively converted to the Financial Institution Specialist (Risk Management), CG-570-7 position in the competitive service, with promotion potential to the CG-13 grade level. Interns review financial reports and accounts; assist with assessments of institution procedures, controls, earnings, capital, liquidity, fixed assets, insurance coverage, and indemnity protection; and prepare draft materials for examination reports. Applicants must meet the education and GPA requirements and maintain student eligibility throughout the internship. The internship requires completion of program and examiner agreements, and may require a one-year probationary period or, if applicable, a two-year trial period.
