About The Position

The Financial Counselor is responsible providing financial counseling to patients, and work closely with the billing supervisor to ensure timely claim and account follow up. Supervisor communicates with the patients regarding charges/balances.

Requirements

• Must be computer literate with Athena experience preferred.
• Must be able to deal with all patients or visitors regardless of their temperament with proper decorum.
• Must have excellent organizational skills.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired.
• Must know medical terminology.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in administrative medical office setting

Responsibilities

• Make and answer telephone calls from patients and insurance companies regarding the balances and disputes.
• Collects and processes credit card payment regarding patient balances daily.
• Assist patients at Front Desk and answer calls to schedule patients regarding outstanding balances prior to appointments.
• Reviews insurance benefits and patient responsibility.
• Discuss payment arrangements with patients for outstanding patient balances.
• Maintains strict confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
