Financial Clearance Coordinator
About The Position
Baptist Health is seeking a Financial Clearance Coordinator to join its team in Louisville, Kentucky. This position completes financial clearance before the point of service, helping prevent authorization or technical denials caused by poor or incomplete information. The coordinator serves as a liaison among practices, insurance companies, and the hospital department providing service. Effective financial clearance supports a seamless patient financial experience. The role includes obtaining and validating orders, verifying insurance, securing prior authorizations, supporting compliance, preparing pre-service estimates and payment plans, making Medicaid referrals, and conducting charity pre-screening. Basic coding knowledge and proficiency in medical terminology are recommended because the position requires extensive review of diagnosis and procedure codes. Excellent customer service skills are required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of previous insurance experience.
- One year of customer service experience.
- Comfort with commonly used computer applications.
- Typing speed of 40–45 words per minute.
- Excellent customer service skills.
