About The Position

BraveBe Child Advocacy Center is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and mission-driven Financial Bookkeeper to support their work in protecting children and strengthening families. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial records, strong internal controls, and responsible stewardship of grants and funding. The ideal candidate enjoys organization, accuracy, problem-solving, and collaborating in a mission-focused nonprofit environment. The bookkeeper will help maintain the financial health and compliance of BraveBe, enabling the organization to continue its vital programs and services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or grant-funded setting.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Dependable, collaborative, and passionate about supporting mission-driven work through strong financial stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial recordkeeping in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards and GAAP.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable while ensuring proper grant and program allocation.
  • Perform regular bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.
  • Track expenditures and receivables across multiple federal, state, and local grants.
  • Assist with grant invoicing, reporting, and drawdown requests.
  • Monitor grant budgets and ensure expenditures align with funding requirements.
  • Maintain organized financial documentation and audit-ready records.
  • Support annual audits, monitoring visits, and financial reporting processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems and efficiencies while maintaining compliance.
  • Work closely with leadership and program staff to support budgeting and reporting needs.
  • Partner with the Development Team to track in-kind donations and funding allocations.
  • Serve as a trusted financial resource within a collaborative team environment.
