About The Position

The Financial Analyst supports the firm’s financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions. The role prepares financial reports, assists with budgeting and forecasting, prepares tax returns and filings, supports partner payroll and distributions, and helps ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. This position reports to the Controller.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work directly with partners and senior leadership
  • High level of discretion when handling sensitive financial information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (or similar) and accounting/financial systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (required)
  • 2–5+ years of financial analysis experience (law firm or professional services preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with legal financial systems (e.g., Elite, Aderant) is a plus
  • Experience with budget software is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Compute partners’ monthly payroll
  • Calculate and reconcile quarterly partner distributions
  • Reconcile partners’ draw activity to the Distribution Statement
  • Prepare partners’ annual draw updates each January
  • Determine draw amounts for new and prospective partners
  • Calculate mandatory retirement contributions and interest on partner capital
  • Calculate fixed partner incentive bonuses
  • Prepare Partner Distribution Statements and calculations of partner income
  • Prepare quarterly estimated tax schedules for partners
  • Prepare and ensure payment of quarterly and annual payments to the IRS and states
  • Prepare and file unclaimed property, business, and personal property tax returns, as applicable
  • Assist with preparation of the annual expense budget and forecasts
  • Analyze variances between actual results and budget/forecast and provide clear explanations
  • Assign rights and account to budget owners in the budget software
  • Develop and troubleshoot budgeting software
  • Develop variance and other reports in budgeting software and distribute monthly to budget owners
  • Support annual audit and tax return processes, including preparing schedules and workpapers
  • Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives and business decisions
  • Conduct special projects (e.g., lateral hire analysis, office expansion analysis, cost management initiatives)
  • Support the Controller and CFO with data-driven recommendations
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across financial systems
  • Perform miscellaneous reconciliations
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Provide additional assistance and support as directed by their supervisor.

Benefits

  • The pay for this position will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, education, external market data, internal equity, and other job-related factors. The anticipated pay range for this role is between $85,000 - $100,000 annually.
